Impossible Foods Gets FDA Approval To Sell In Grocery Stores

Post by Pigeon » Sat Aug 03, 2019 3:54 pm

Impossible Foods has been granted approval by the FDA to sell its plant-based meat in U.S. grocery stores this fall. "After expressing some initial doubts, the agency formally ruled that soy leghemoglobin -- the additive in Impossible Burgers that gives it a meat-like flavor and makes it 'bleed' -- is safe for consumers to eat," reports Engadget. "If no objections are raised, the FDA rule change becomes effective on September 4th."

Leghaemoglobin (also leghemoglobin or legoglobin) is an oxygen carrier and hemoprotein found in the nitrogen-fixing root nodules of leguminous plants.

It is produced by legumes in response to the roots being colonized by nitrogen-fixing bacteria, termed rhizobia, as part of the symbiotic interaction between plant and bacterium: roots not colonized by Rhizobium do not synthesise leghemoglobin.

Legoglobin - the oxygen carrier responsible for making certain Lego blocks red. Those without Legoglobin are any other color.

Another meme created, splendid.

So they are switching the name from "Taco Bell Meat" to "Impossible Meat"?

Where is the connection with impossible meat and amounts of Leghaemoglobin?

You just posted something called "Leghaemoglobin". You are inferring it's in Impossible Meat?
