I been watching the Patriots games in the playoffs.

Refs are steering.

Titans Game:
2 key penalties on the Titans in the first half that didn't need to be called. Taking the momentum out of the offense and not allowing the defense to rest.

Jaguars:
Not calling pass interference on key 3rd down plays. Weird delay of game call that we didn't see a replay on.
Not calling holding on a run that solidified their win in the final minutes.



Talk about a butterfly effect. Geez.

NFL has said some refs do a poor job at times - They might be missing the money that makes for poor officiating.

So it starts, Houston vs Jacksonville. The two cities flooded.

Another theory is the underground rules. The teams know the refs can't call a penalty on every play because its slows down the game. That is, there's probably a real penalty on every other play of the game. So the refs use this selective penalty calling to manage the flow of the game.
