Have you been keeping track of the team as far as injuries or trades? Are they the same team in your book?

Nope. I did see that Adrian is coming back. I think we see what that have in the first few games. Always subject to meltdown. I think they will be good this years since they are still mostly last years team.

Philip Rivers hears the noise.

He knows a lot of people now view him as damaged goods. A once-great quarterback now mortal and turnover-ridden. A link to the San Diego Chargers' past, but not necessarily their future.

Rapoport: Charged by change
The Chargers cleaned house in the offseason. Will a 3-year playoff drought end in 2013? Ian Rapoport went to S.D. to find out. More ...
Those who believe Rivers can bounce back in 2013 point to a better-suited scheme under coach Mike McCoy and coordinator Ken Whisenhunt that favors quick passing and high-percentage throws. This is the type of strategizing that can "fix" Philip Rivers.

And that's what annoys the veteran.

"The thing that's gotten to me this offseason is, 'Who's going to fix Philip?' " Rivers said, via the Los Angeles Times. "That phrase, I almost laugh it off. That drives me nuts, really.

Chargers vs. 49ers tonight at 7pm PST.

Should be a good preview of Chargers depth against a great team.

Missed the game. Was looking at the box score. Did the actual SD team show up to play. Of course there may have been players in that were being eval'd but hasn't the biggest cut dead line passed or is it the one today/tomorrow.

Backup QB is the first half was bad, the backup QB is the second half was worse.

This shows how much 1 player effects the entire outcome. If the League or Las Vegas gets to a QB, the game is controlled.

Defense did surprisingly well, but they broke down in the second half because the offense continued to turnover the ball.

Everyone knows a team needs to keep the defense of the field as much as possible or they get ground up. 3 and outs and turnovers kill a defense.

Bront Bird (born March 17, 1989 in Odessa, Texas) is an American football linebacker for the San Diego Chargers of the National Football League. He was signed by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He played college football at Texas Tech. He played high school football at Permian High School in Odessa, Texas where he was a standout at wide receiver and linebacker.

That's some good Texas football background.

4. Can San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers do to the Texans’ secondary what Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady did last season when they combined for 10 touchdown passes?

That’s unlikely. Rivers isn’t an elite quarterback like Rodgers and Brady. Cornerback Kareem Jackson should be even better this season. Cornerback Johnathan Joseph is healthy, unlike most of last season. Strong safety Daniel Manning does a splendid job. Free safety Shiloh Keo is the unknown factor because this is his first start. Rivers is smart, and will try to find a way to test Keo early. The key, as always, is the pass rush. Rivers was sacked 49 times last season. If new coach Mike McCoy can’t improve the pass protection by having Rivers take shorter drops and get rid of the ball quicker, the quarterback’s going to get pulverized again.

We shall see. Talk is cheap.
