I'd go even further and say that we are just beings the germinate and flower and spread ideas in an environment where ideas cannot always cohabit peacefully.

Yes, sure. But what is it about the humans that requires such a shitfest to begin with? That's exactly why I converted to a Cartoon.

It's just the furtherance of creation. I don't know why. An overdeveloped brain?

Ideas take on religious significance. If you look at early Judaism, it was an earthly religion. Not following one of the mitzvot was a sin. But a sin was more like missing the mark. Most of the mitzvot was just their idea of healthy living. Who cares if you eat pig? It's the trichonosis they were trying to avoid, I think.

It's almost like we create to have something to worship. We're filling the void ourselves.

Or, I may be completely full of shit. :D

Catholics may be atheists too...

As far as the Son of God/ Son of man dilemma is concerned, my own feeling is that The Church resolved this issue in an esoteric understanding of the Platonist (dialectical) nature of the Trinity. Father/ Son/ Spirit-Zeitgeist is, properly understood, Thesis/ Antithesis/ Synthesis in my considered opinion.

Why do they use such uncommon words in the religous books? Maybe if it were in laymans terms I would take the time to read or try and understand.

Seriously, I read the words and I feel like I am reading something in a foreign language. It doesn't sink in.

Maybe I just don't want to understand because it is a bunch of mumbo jumbo.

I'm just saying...........
