It is a good way to let someone know what you thought of their post without posting in the thread and going off topic.
Plus..... I love reading them when the board is slow.
You get some pretty good shit in the Rep comments

I think that may be unique to vBulletin forums.
This is PHPBB which is what the majority of forums run. I'll have to looking into it.

I thought OMF ran the same as this one. I know that you can give "Karma" there, I thought I remember once someone there saying that they had disabled the comments part of things or something.
